Sarge Wins NM Magazine Photo Award

Charles Sargent’s photograph of two cousins relaxing and enjoying each other’s company has been named the First Place Winner in the 2010 NM Magazine Photo Contest in the People Category. This photograph, along with the other winners, is highlighted in the January 2011 issue.

Mariajose, the child on the right, had just finished participating in the Santiago Fiesta at El Santuario de Chimayo. Her cousin, Paola, on the left, was a spectator. The photo highlights the different but equally colorful dress of the two cousins, one wearing the traditional garb of the Fiesta Dancers and the other wearing contemporary clothing.
